6 Great Asparagus Recipes Spring is asparagus season, though from the looks of my supermarket's shelves you could argue that asparagus is always in season, so let me rephrase. Spring is the season for great, local, tender asparagus. That's much better. Besides the obvious malodorous drawback, asparagus is a real treat, enjoyed every spring almost to excess. In fact, in many regions asparagus is enjoyed to excess. The Spargel Festivals held in the Alto Adige, or Asparagi Festivals held in Trentino each year are just two of the regions I am familiar with.

How do you celebrate the onset of asparagus? I love them steamed in vinaigrette, or roasted in the oven and splashed with lime juice and olive oil. There are tons of ways to prepare asparagus, and here are six great ideas to give you some food for thought, so to speak.
