8 Best Jelly Doughnuts in NYC

Tasting through the best with Stephen Collucci

As we said in last week's 5 Hanukkah Eats article, eating Sufganiyot (small jelly doughnuts) has become quite a tradition at Hanukkah celebrations around the world.

In honor of this tradition, we tasted jelly doughnuts from all over Manhattan. Dozens of doughnuts were tasted with one single goal, to pick out the single best jelly doughnut on the island.

With the help of Stephen Collucci, pastry chef of Colicchio & Sons who is known for his doughnut specialty, we picked out the top eight.

In any great doughnut, there should be a balance to the sweetness from a bit of salt, and a cakey dough that can stand up on it's own, according to Collucci. With those guidelines in mind, we set out on our quest.

Read on for the full reviews and be sure to let us know your favorite doughnut shops below!
