I have been baking brownies from scratch for quite a few years now and have been experimenting with different add-ins and toppings. My current fave is 1/2 pkg of Reese's mini unwrapped pnut butter chocolate cups and 1/2 pkg of white chocolate chips. The Reese's give a great little surprise to your taster, and the white chips don't melt, resulting in a crunch that some mistake for nuts. (I'm allergic to nuts). For a topper, nothing beats a 70 to 80 % cacao or so salted chocolate bar. Usually use 6 to 8 oz of chocolate, and put it on the still-warm brownies..
