As the weather turns cooler we begin to look to stews and rich dishes that will stick to our bones and make the cooler months a bit more bearable. Quinoa can help lighten those heavier dishes and is a super food you should be trying!

Cooking With Quinoa!
“I ate too much quinoa last night.”

Now that's not something you'll hear me say everyday. In fact I don't think I've ever said that prior to earlier this week. You see in a long standing effort to eat more healthily I've been doing things like eating less meat and more veggies, increasingly turning to beans for to get my protein and looking for alternatives to rice, pasta, and bread on the grain front. And you know what? Quinoa can be pretty darn good!

I do really need to write some more about beans, they are the most satisfying, least expensive, and most adaptable food in my pantry, but I bought these two big bags of quinoa, you know how Costco operates, and have been experimenting with some uses for this most healthful and nutritious grain. There have been various versions of pilaf, a really completing roasted garlic and mushroom version that elicited my leading comments and a pot fill of curried lamb with sprouted lentils and quinoa that currently sits on my stove!
