I plan to have give my dad his favorite red wine and pair it with some Alouette cheese (both of our favorites!) You should all try it. They even just posted a cool video that they just filmed at Houston Wine & Food Week: http://www.facebook.com/AlouetteCheese#!/video/video.php?v=1392284023316&oid=112203110224&comments

I hate to be that guy, but I'm pretty sure Chile is the country and chili is the spice :)

As the father on the receiving end of two daughters in their 20s, I might point them at the grilled lamb (or the quiche), with the Cuban hamburger as fallback. With the lamb the Cab Franc from the Loire sounds fine with some other seafood on the grill so also a white. They know I do like Burgundian whites, too, so that might show up.
Sorry, no fish sticks. Too many memories of off nights growing up with them and tater tots, or even Swanson TV dinners... ;-(
Interesting theme, and you did catch my attention on it.

I don't know about the demographics here, but isn't it a reasonable bet that more of us are fathers than sons, as it were?
Far from buying a gift for our own fathers, many of us are concerned about the gift we're likely to get. So the whole emphasis of a piece like this should be, how do you ensure that you get a gift you actually want!

started our BBQ with LILLET APERITIF--then enjoyed the KOREAN PULLED PORK with SESAME GINGER COLESLAW and your suggestion of LAMBRUSC0..found it delightfully light and fruity, a good combo with the meal..thank you
