5 Hanukkah Eats Hanukkah, the eight day Festival of Lights, is just days away.

This beloved Jewish holiday celebrates the Maccabees' plight during the 2nd century BCE and the re-dedication of the Holy Temple, and is commemorated by lighting candles on the Menorah and eating food fried in oil. These traditions celebrate the miracle of the temple's oil which lasted eight long days during the war.

Hanukkah food (including all of the delicious fried stuff) is an important part of the tradition, with Jewish families around the world eating fried potato Latkes and Sufganiyot (small jelly doughnuts).

Whether you are celebrating yourself or just looking to learn some new traditions, we've selected our favorite Hanukkah recipes to share with you. Each dish is presented in both traditional and new ways, providing you with the basics while leaving room to experiment if you feel so inclined.

Enjoy and happy Hanukkah!
