So this is more fried chicken. Is it really going to behave differently that classic KFC? Bacon and cheese say yes.
This combintaion of ingredients had the unfortunate skill of making many of the wines taste fruitier that they already were. In the case of the Vouvray and the Riesling, they totally were thrown off balance here, turning just too sweet. The Verdejo and the rosé also turned fairly fruity, but being drier wines, they hung in there until the finish, when both thinned out disappointingly.
The Sauvignon Blanc wasn't bad, but turned a bit tinny. The Chardonnay was better, more mineral than tinny, but still schooled by the bacon and cheese. The Tempranillo actually showed quite well, turning fairly silky with nice fruit character, but it pretty much covered the flavors of the sandwich.
