New Year's Eve Dinner Ideas New Year's Eve is an interesting holiday to me, because everybody celebrates it differently. While some may go to a swanky party with champagne and hundreds of other people, others opt for a low-key evening at home with loved ones, a bottle of bubbly, and Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin’ Eve on the television. However you celebrate it, a fantastic dinner is in order before the countdown begins.

My wife and I have done this so many years in a row, I would call it a tradition. We order two each 2+ pound live lobsters....pick them up that morning. Get on some XXXL tee shirts,...have some light snacks with a drink....and then ---- about 10 pm we cook the live lobsters and open some good champagne .....spread some newspapers on the large coffee table.... a little (lot) melted butter.....and pig out. Our friends have tried to invite themselves over, but we let them know that it is a 'private' party.

New Year's Eve is when my husband and I celebrate our Christmas. We have a nice bottle of wine and every year it is something different for dinner. This year I have a small, 2 bone rib roast and will serve it with mashed sweet potatoes and green beans. The husband has requested shrimp toast for an appy so I will ferret out a recipe and try to make them. Lactaid eggnog if I can find it and chocolate pot de creme for dessert. Then it is off to bed early as we spend New Year's Day outside birding.
