The Food Pusher

 


It is safe to say that each and every one of us knows at least one Food Pusher.

From tiny tots who "feed" their parents when all mom and dad want is for the little nugget to eat those darn Chicken Tenders to caretaking types who simply want to make people feel loved and comforted with good old Cheesy Potatoes, there are pushers all around us. For all of us who either push or know someone who does, we bring this week's blog.

Our author falls into the caretaker category, she is a mother, Kindergarten ESL teacher and self-professed "Food Pusher" whose motto in life is "Love People: Cook them tasty food."

The blog is full of utterly tasty recipes for things like Cinnamon Pecan Sticky Buns and their savory counterparts Pulled Pork Cinnamon Rolls. Not only are the recipes great, but the Food Pusher includes stories and anecdotes with every dish that we just love.
In addition to the more creative recipes listed above, Food Pusher serves up a lot of tradition. For those yearning for comfort food of home, try serving up the Best Meatloaf Ever with Buttermilk Biscuits.

With a primarily kid- and comfort-food centric recipe index, it's hard not to mention the sweets section that features a whole series of miniature desserts: Bite Size Chocolate Cream Pie, Bite Size Banana Cream Pie and Mini Dutch Apple Pie, are just a few examples. Even the non-miniature recipes are hard to resist: Just look at the Rainbow Cheesecake and the ridiculously gorgeous Chocolate Cake with Cocoa Whipped Cream!

    My favorite recipe are the Chicken Egg Rolls. Not just because they are delicious but because I usually get to stand in Kelly's kitchen and help her fry them up. Kelly's an even better friend than she is a cook, if you can believe it.

    I also made her cinnamon rolls for Christmas morning. but I made them 2 days ahead and froze them at the stage right before the final rise. On Christmas Eve I put them on the counter and in the morning popped them in the oven. They were delicious. That's my lazy way. Kelly would have gotten out of bed at 2am.
