Barbecued Beef Ribs with Molasses-Bourbon Sauce

Ingredients

  • ½ cup mild-flavored (light) molasses
  • ¼ cup mild-flavored (light) molasses
  • ¼ cup water
  • ½ cup bourbon
  • 1 ½ cups water
  • Charcoal chimney
  • 45 charcoal briquettes
  • + 14 more ingredients
    • 1 ½ teaspoons salt
    • 5 fresh thyme sprigs
    • 2 cups ketchup
    • 1 cup red wine vinegar
    • 5 fresh thyme sprigs
    • ½ teaspoon ground white pepper
    • 1 tablespoon salt
    • 1 bay leaf
    • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
    • 1 12-ounce bottle pale ale
    • 16 beef short ribs or 8 whole beef ribs
    • ½ teaspoon ground white pepper
    • 1 tablespoon sugar
    • 1 small onion

Combine all ingredients except ribs in heavy medium saucepan. Bring to boil. Cool marinade completely. Place ribs in large heavy-duty resealable plastic bag; add marinade.
