Ingredients

  • 1 (15.5-ounce) can low-sodium red beans, rinsed, drained, and divided
  • ¼ teaspoon ground red pepper
  • 6 ounces ground sirloin
  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups canned crushed tomatoes
  • ½ cup finely chopped white onion
  • + 8 more ingredients
    • 2 tablespoons olive oil
    • 4 (2-ounce) whole-wheat sandwich rolls, split and toasted
    • 2 teaspoons chili powder
    • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
    • ½ cup grated carrot
    • 4 (1/4-inch-thick) red onion slices, separated into rings
    • 1 teaspoon brown sugar
    • ¼ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
