Ingredients

  • 2 carrots
  • 1 pound cross-cut beef short ribs or flanken
  • 1 large onion
  • ½ cup pearl barley
  • 11 cups water
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

    • 1 ½ ounces dried mushrooms
    • ½ pound fresh cremini mushrooms
