Ingredients

  • 1 cup(s) chopped onion
  • 1 cup(s) celery, sliced into 1" pieces
  • 2 pound(s) stew meat, cubed
  • 3 tablespoon(s) cooking sherry
  • salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon(s) sugar
  • 3 tablespoon(s) tapioca

    • 3 ½ cup(s) stewed tomatoes
    • green pepper, sliced (optional)
    • 6 carrots, peeled and sliced into 1" pieces

Preheat oven to 300°F. Place all ingredients in baking dish, cover and bake for 5 hours. During the last hour of cooking, stir and add water if stew is dry. Note: This recipe doubles easily and freezes well.
