French Onion and White Wine Soup
Ingredients
- 5 cup(s) water
- 2 large sweet onions, sliced thin
- 7 beef bouillon cubes
- 2 clove(s) garlic, chopped fine
- 8 slice(s) baguette, 1" thick, toasted (or French bread)
- 2 cup(s) Gruyere cheese, shredded
- 1 leek, sliced thin (white and light green areas)

- ½ cup(s) white wine, adjust to taste
- 1 teaspoon(s) Worcestershire sauce
- salt and pepper to taste
Melt butter or margarine in a large skillet. Add onions, leeks and garlic. Stirring frequently, sauté 30-45 minutes over medium high heat until onions are caramelized and lightly golden brown. Reduce heat to simmer, add beef boullion, Worcestershire sauce and seasonings. Cook on low for 20-25 m...
