  • 1 head cabbage, center core removed
  • 2 -3 tablespoons butter
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 lb ground pork
  • 1 lb ground veal
  • 2 cups cooked white rice

    • 2 (28 ounce) cans crushed tomatoes
    • 1 ½ cups water or 1 ½ cups beef broth
    • 1 ½ cups beef broth
    • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
    • ½ teaspoon salt
    • ½ teaspoon pepper
    • ¼ teaspoon celery salt
    • ¼ teaspoon parsley
    • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
    • ¼ teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
    • 4 carrots, sliced
    • 16 ounces mushrooms, quartered
    • 2 bay leaves
    • 2 eggs, slightly beaten
