Ingredients

  • 1 carrot
  • All-purpose flour
  • Freshly ground black pepper
  • Kosher salt
  • 2 to 4 cloves garlic
  • 8 medium onions
  • 3 tablespoons corn oil
  • + 2 more ingredients
    • 1 6-pound first-cut beef brisket, trimmed so that a thin layer of fat remains
