Barley Torte

Ingredients

• 1 cup chicken broth
• 1 cup pearl barley
• 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
• 2 small onions
• ¾ teaspoon salt
• 2 cups water
• 1 1/4-ounce package dried mushrooms
