Fried Chicken, Mashed Potatoes, and Gravy from Smoky Holler

Ingredients

  • 4 to 6 red potatoes with skin (about 1 pound)
  • 1/3 c flour
  • 3 t chicken bouillon granules (not chicken base)
  • ½ t black pepper
  • ¼ t garlic powder
  • 4 skinless chicken breast halves, bone in (about 1 1/2 pounds raw with bone)
  • 1 T butter
  • + 6 more ingredients
    • 1 T canola oil
    • 3 T reduced-fat cream cheese (1/3 less fat)
    • 1 T butter
    • ½ to 1 t white pepper
    • ¼ t salt
    • 2 ¾ c nonfat milk, divided
