Ingredients

  • 1 ½ tablespoons light brown sugar
  • ¾ cup finely diced red bell pepper
  • ½ cup cilantro leaves
  • 5 tablespoons soy sauce, divided
  • 3 tablespoons dry sherry
  • 3 tablespoons minced fresh ginger
  • About 15 large leaves romaine lettuce
  • + 8 more ingredients
    • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
    • 6 tablespoons rice vinegar
    • ½ cup thinly sliced green onions, including tops
    • 1 flank steak (1 1/2 to 1 3/4 lbs.)
    • 2 tablespoons cornstarch blended smoothly with 2 tbsp. water
    • ½ cup salted peanuts
    • 1 cup reduced-sodium chicken broth
    • ¼ cup rinsed and drained salted fermented black beans (see Notes)
