  • 3-½- to 4-lb. chicken, cut into serving pieces
  • 2/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • ¾ tsp. freshly ground black pepper

    • 2 tsp. salt
    • 2 cups milk or water
    • 2 Tbs. reserved chicken grease
