  • 1/3 cup low-sodium chicken broth
  • 3 large shallots, thinly sliced into rings
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/3 cup balsamic vinegar
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, chilled and cut into pieces

Heat the oil in a large skillet or saucepan over medium-low heat. Add the shallots and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Add the broth and vinegar.
