California Raisin-Almond Chicken Curry (Murghi Kismis Salan)

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoon finely chopped fresh cilantro
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 to 3 fresh or dried bay leaves
  • 4 green cardamon pods
  • ½ cup ground almonds
  • ¼ cup sour cream
  • + 8 more ingredients
    • ½ cup heavy whipping cream
    • 2 tablespoon clarified butter or vegetable oil, divided
    • 5 garlic cloves
    • 2 tablespoon coarsely chopped fresh gingerroot
    • 1 coarsely chopped green bell pepper
    • 2 thinly sliced yellow onions, divided
    • 2 cup California raisins, divided
    • 2 pound boneless skinless chicken breasts

Trim and cut chicken into 1-inch pieces. Place in heavy 3-quart saucepan; set aside.
