Calistoga Clams

Ingredients

  • 1 ¼ cups dry white wine
  • 1 14 1/2-ounce can Italian-style stewed tomatoes
  • 1 ½ teaspoons orange peel
  • 1 tablespoon fresh basil
  • 24 small to medium clams
  • 4 ounces somen
  • 1 ¼ cups sparkling water (such as Calistoga)
  • + 4 more ingredients
    • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme
    • 1 teaspoon fresh oregano
    • 1 ¼ cups fish stock or canned unsalted chicken broth
    • 2 tablespoons chopped garlic

Bring first 6 ingredients to boil in large pot. Simmer 10 minutes. Break up tomatoes with wooden spoon. Add clams. Cover and cook until clams open, about 5 minutes.
