  • 1 tablespoon butter or margarine
  • 1 (3-pound) whole chicken, skinned and cut up
  • 6 cups water
  • Apple slices
  • 4 chicken bouillon cubes
  • 2 medium apples, chopped
  • 1 ½ cups uncooked rice
  • + 6 more ingredients
    • 2 teaspoons curry powder
    • 2 large carrots, chopped
    • 1/8 teaspoon liquid from hot peppers in vinegar (optional)
    • 2 tablespoons chopped green onions
    • 1 (8-ounce) container sour cream
    • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil

Brown chicken in hot oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat; cover and cook 20 more minutes or until done. Remove chicken, reserving drippings in pan, and keep warm.
