Ingredients

  • freshly ground black pepper
  • 10 ounces button or cremini mushrooms
  • 2 large sweet onions, or 2 cups pearl onions
  • salt
  • 20 baby carrots
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 bottle red wine
  • + 7 more ingredients
    • 2 sprigs thyme
    • 1 bay leaf
    • 1 cup chicken broth
    • 1 4-pound chicken
    • 2 thick slices bacon
    • 3 tablespoons olive oil
    • 1 handful flour

1. Heat the olive oil in a large pot over medium-high heat. Add the bacon and cook until crisp. Transfer to a large plate. 2.
