Sesame Chicken Salad

Ingredients

• 2 teaspoons sugar
• 3 tablespoons soy sauce
• ½ teaspoon fresh-ground black pepper
• 4 cloves garlic, chopped
• 1 tablespoon chopped fresh ginger
• 1 ¹/₃ pounds boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 4 )
• ¼ teaspoon salt

  • ¼ pound vermicelli
  • 2 cucumbers, halved lengthwise, peeled, and seeded

  • 2 ½ tablespoons cooking oil
  • ¹/₈ teaspoon dried red-pepper flakes
  • 1 tablespoon Asian sesame oil
