Chicken Roasted in Bay Leaves

Ingredients

• 2 tablespoons whipping cream
• 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
• 3 tablespoons water
• ¼ teaspoon salt
• Chicken:
• 1 (3 3/4-pound) whole roasting chicken
• ¼ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
