Country Ham and Fried Egg on Angel Biscuits
Ingredients
- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour, plus more for rolling
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 2 ½ teaspoons baking powder
- 2 teaspoons instant yeast
- ¾ teaspoon fine salt
- ¼ cup vegetable shortening
- ¼ cup (½ stick) cold unsalted butter, cut into pats

- ¼ cup heavy cream, for brushing on top
- 4 tablespoons unsalted melted butter, for brushing on top
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, divided

- Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
- 4 ounces (¼ pound) country ham, sliced paper thin*
