Sage Cornbread Dressing

Ingredients

  • 4 white bread slices, cut into 1/2-inch cubes (about 2 cups)
  • 2 (6-oz.) packages buttermilk cornbread mix
  • 1/3 cup butter
  • 1 cup chopped celery
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 2 ½ to 3 cups chicken broth
  • ½ cup chopped onion
  • + 4 more ingredients
    • Garnish: fresh sage leaves
    • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh or 1 1/2 tsp. dried sage
    • 2 large eggs, lightly beaten
    • ½ teaspoon pepper

1. Prepare cornbread according to package directions for a double recipe. Let cool 30 minutes; crumble into a large bowl. 2.
