Ingredients

  • 2 cups long-grain white rice
  • ¼ cup catsup
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne (optional)
  • 1 ½ teaspoons salad oil
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • Salt
  • 1 onion (8 oz.)
  • + 8 more ingredients
    • 1 tablespoon minced fresh ginger
    • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
    • 1 can (8 oz.) pineapple chunks in juice
    • 1 pound fat-trimmed boned pork loin or sirloin
    • 1 tablespoon sugar
    • 1 red or green bell pepper (8 oz.)
    • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
    • 2 tablespoons soy sauce

1. In a 2- to 3-quart pan over high heat, bring 3 1/2 cups water and the rice to a boil. Reduce heat to medium-high and cook, uncovered, until most of the water is absorbed, 7 to 10 minutes.
