Ingredients

  • 1 cup plus 2 tablespoons water
  • 4 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 ½ cups shortening

Combine flour and salt in a mixing bowl; cut in shortening with a pastry blender until mixture resembles coarse meal. Sprinkle water evenly over flour mixture, 1 tablespoon at a time, and stir with a fork until all ingredients are moistened. Shape dough into a ball; chill.
