20 Minute Cocoa Cake

Ingredients

  • 2 cup(s) sugar
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 3 ½ tablespoon(s) cocoa
  • 1 stick(s) butter
  • ½ cup(s) shortening
  • FROSTING:
  • 1 cup(s) water
  • + 9 more ingredients
    • 2 cup(s) self rising flour
    • 1 teaspoon(s) baking soda
    • ½ cup(s) buttermilk
    • 1 stick(s) margarine
    • 3 ½ tablespoon(s) cocoa
    • 1/3 cup(s) milk
    • 1 box(es) powdered sugar
    • 1 teaspoon(s) vanilla
    • 1 cup(s) nuts, chopped (optional)

Bring cocoa, butter, shortening and water to a boil. Pour over flour and sugar. Mix by hand then add eggs, soda, buttermilk and vanilla. Bake at 400° for 20 minutes. For Frosting, bring margarine, cocoa and milk to a boil. Add powdered sugar, vanilla and nuts, if desired. Pour hot over warm cake.
