African Hot Sauce


  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 can (8 oz.) tomato sauce
  • ¼ cup chopped onion
  • About 3 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 to 8 fresh red jalapeño chilies (1 1/2 to 6 1/2 oz. total), stemmed, seeded, deveined, and chopped

In a blender or food processor, whirl tomato sauce, onion, garlic, and lemon juice, adding a few chilies at a time, until smoothly puréed and hot enough to suit your taste. Nutritional analysis per tablespoon.
