Ingredients

  • 6 large egg whites
  • 19 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 ½ cups slivered almonds
  • nonstick vegetable-oil spray
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 large pinches of coarse kosher salt
  • 2 large oranges
  • + 5 more ingredients
    • 1 large orange
    • 1 cup water
    • 1 cup sliced almonds, toasted
    • 2 vanilla beans
    • 20 ounces bittersweet chocolate (do not exceed 61% cacao), chopped

Combine sugar, 1 cup water, and orange peel strips in medium saucepan. Stir over medium heat until sugar dissolves and syrup comes to boil. Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer 1 minute.
