  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 8 firm-ripe small peaches (about 2 lb)
  • 1 large egg
  • mascarpone cheese or crème fraîche
  • 1 cup amaretti (Italian almond macaroons, preferably Lazzaroni brand)
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 2 ½ tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • + 1 more ingredients
    • 2 tablespoons sugar

Put oven rack in middle position and preheat oven to 350°F. Melt 2 tablespoons butter and pour into a 13- by 9-inch glass or ceramic baking dish.
