  • ¾ cup sugar
  • ½ cup yellow cornmeal
  • 1 cup grated cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 large tart apple, such as a Granny Smith, peeled, cored, and cut into ¼-inch dice
  • ¼ tsp. table salt

    • ¾ cup unbleached all-purpose flour
