Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup Cognac or brandy
  • 4 6- to 7-ounce Golden Delicious apples
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter
  • 12 medium pitted prunes
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • ½ teaspoon sugar
  • + 6 more ingredients
    • ½ teaspoon salt
    • 3 tablespoons water
    • Vanilla ice cream
    • ¼ cup apricot preserves
    • 1 ¼ cups all purpose flour
    • ¼ cup solid vegetable shortening

Blend flour, sugar and salt in processor. Add shortening and butter and blend, using on/off turns, until coarse meal forms. Add 3 tablespoons ice water.
