Ingredients

  • Vanilla ice cream
  • 1 ¾ cups unsalted butter
  • ½ cup Merlot
  • 4 pounds Golden Delicious apples
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 large egg
  • + 7 more ingredients
    • 2/3 cup water
    • ¾ cup dried tart cherries
    • ½ cup hazelnuts
    • 2 tablespoons raw sugar crystals or granulated sugar
    • 3 ¼ cups all purpose flour
    • ½ teaspoon salt
    • ¼ cup sugar

Bring cherries and Merlot to boil in small saucepan over medium-high heat. Remove from heat and cool. Let stand at room temperature overnight. Drain well.
