  • 1 ounce smoked trout or ½ soft-cooked egg, for topping (optional)
  • 2 slices whole-grain bread, toasted
  • ½ avocado, pitted
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • kosher salt and ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon extra-virgin olive oil
  • ½ teaspoon capers, coarsely chopped
  • + 2 more ingredients
    • ½ teaspoon fresh lemon juice
    • ¼ small red onion, thinly sliced
