Baked Chocolate Soup


  • 8 ounces "couverture"--semisweet chocolate at room temperature
  • 3 cups milk brought to just under a boil
  • 6 fully ripe bananas (freckled but not mushy)
  • 1 teaspoon fragrant ground cinnamon
  • ½ cup dark rum
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • 4 tablespoons (½ stick) unsalted butter
  • + 2 more ingredients
    • ½ cup egg whites
    • 1 ¼ cups confectioner's sugar
