Ingredients

  • 1 pound mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1 ½ pounds whole-milk ricotta cheese
  • 2 pounds sweet Italian sausage, casings removed
  • 1 pound rigatoni
  • Coarse salt and freshly ground pepper
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 2 (28-ounce) cans unpeeled crushed tomatoes in puree
  • + 4 more ingredients
    • 1 (6-ounce) can tomato paste
    • 1 small onion, finely chopped
    • 2 large garlic cloves, finely chopped
    • 3 tablespoons olive oil

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a large saucepan, heat 2 tablespoons of oil over medium heat. Add garlic and onion, and cook until onion is translucent, about 4 minutes.
