Balsamic Strawberries with Ice Cream


  • 4 (1/2-cup) scoops vanilla-bean ice cream
  • Fresh-ground black pepper, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon good-quality balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 pint fresh strawberries, rinsed, hulled and halved

Combine the berries, sugar, vinegar and pepper in a nonreactive bowl and chill 30 minutes. Serve over ice cream.
