  • 3 Tbs. ice-cold heavy cream or evaporated milk, more or less as needed
  • 1 large egg, slightly beaten
  • 1 cup sugar
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1-1/3 cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup (½ stick) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 ripe banana, peeled and mashed
  • + 4 more ingredients
    • ¼ tsp. table salt
    • 1 tsp. granulated sugar
    • 1-½ cups sweetened shredded coconut
    • ½ cup chilled vegetable shortening

Sift the flour, sugar, and salt together in a medium-size to large bowl.
