Basic Caramelized Onions
Ingredients
- Freshly ground black pepper
- Kosher salt
- 2 medium yellow onions, halved and sliced paper thin (about 4 cups)
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
Melt the butter in a large frying pan over medium heat until foaming. Add the onions, but do not crowd the pan (cook in batches if necessary). Let the onions cook, stirring rarely, until they are deep golden brown and caramelized, about 20 minutes. Season well with salt and pepper, remove from ...
