Best Cherry Pie

Ingredients

  • 1 egg yolk
  • ¼ teaspoon red food coloring
  • ¼ teaspoon almond extract
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • + 2 more ingredients
    • 1 (20 ounce) can pitted sour cherries
    • 1 recipe pastry for a 9 inch double crust pie

1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (220 C). Make pastry and refrigerate. 2. Drain cherries, reserving 1 cup liquid. In a saucepan combine sugar, flour and salt.
