  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • well-seasoned 10- to 11-inch heavy cast-iron skillet or other ovenproof skillet
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla
  • ½ cup whole milk
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 large sweet apple such as Gala or Golden Delicious
  • Confectioners sugar
  • + 3 more ingredients
    • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
    • ½ cup all-purpose flour
    • 4 large eggs
