  • 2 ounces fine-quality bittersweet chocolate (not unsweetened)
  • chocolate wafer cookies
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3 cups whole milk
  • ¼ cup water
  • ¼ cup cornstarch
  • 1 ½ teaspoons vanilla
  • + 4 more ingredients
    • unsweetened whipped cream
    • 14 tablespoons sugar
    • 1 cup heavy cream
    • ¼ teaspoon salt

Bring sugar and water to a boil in a large heavy saucepan over high heat, stirring with a fork until sugar is dissolved.
