Bran Biscuits

Ingredients

• ¾ cup buttermilk
• ½ teaspoon baking soda
• ½ teaspoon salt
• ¹/₃ cup shortening
• ½ cup shreds of wheat bran cereal
• 1 teaspoon baking powder
• 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour

Combine buttermilk and cereal; set aside. Sift together flour, baking powder, soda, and salt. Cut shortening into flour mixture with a pastry blender until mixture resembles coarse meal.
