Butter Rum Cake

Ingredients

  • Cake:
  • 3 c unsifted all-purpose flour
  • 1 t baking powder
  • ½ t baking soda
  • 1 t salt
  • 1 c buttermilk or sour milk
  • 2 t vanilla extract
  • + 8 more ingredients
    • 1 c (2 sticks) butter or margarine, softened
    • 1 ¾ c sugar
    • 4 eggs
    • Butter Rum Sauce:
    • ¾ c sugar
    • ¼ c water
    • ½ c (1 stick) butter
    • 1 T rum extract
