Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups frozen reduced-calorie whipped topping, thawed and divided
  • ¾ cup packed dark brown sugar
  • 1 ½ cups 2% reduced-fat milk
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 16 cakelike ladyfingers
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • ½ cup amaretti cookie crumbs (about 8 cookies)
  • + 3 more ingredients
    • 2 large egg yolks
    • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
    • 1/8 teaspoon salt

Combine the first 5 ingredients in a medium saucepan. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring frequently, and cook until thick and bubbly (about 2 minutes).
